Computing Services
Carleton Computer Accounts
To access the University and College computing services (internet access, file storage, web accounts, etc), you will need to establish an account.
At Carleton, visit the Computing and Communications Services website, then select the link for Students » Accounts » Carleton Students and follow the instructions on the website. Full information on setting up your computer account is detailed in the Registration Instructions Booklet.
To access the School of Information Technology networking and multimedia laboratories, you will need to be a student in the School of IT, and you must have a valid account. Accounts will be supplied to all students who are registered in the program. All Network Administration questions can be directed to Chris Clarke, 230K, Azrieli Pavilion, x2907; email: Christopher_Clarke@carleton.ca
Algonquin Computer Accounts
At Algonquin, you will need your student number handy when you log on to ACSIS (Algonquin College Student Information System) the first time. From www.algonquincollege.com, choose ACSIS and then follow the onscreen instructions to obtain your computer account user name and personal identification number. For Algonquin courses, you will use the same user name and password to access the online learning platform called Blackboard, used by instructors to post course information and organize online course activities
Wireless Internet & Networking
Carleton Wireless Access
Students who have, or are planning to purchase, a portable computer with IEEE 802.11b/g wireless networking capabilities will be glad to note that the Azrieli Pavilion is fully covered for free Wi-Fi access. This is a useful resource to allow students to participate in class-related activities (such as accessing notes on-line, searching for additional information, etc)
The Wi-Fi network is provided through Carleton Computer Services (CCS), and users will be prompted to log in once a connection has been made to download security certificate. Users are required to have a Connect account before they are allowed to use the Wi-fi. For more information, visit the wireless configuration website
Algonquin Wireless Access
A Wi-Fi network is also accessible from most locations on Algonquin's campus, using your Algonquin network credentials. Visit the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk on the 3rd floor of C-building and the staff there will be pleased to configure your computer accordingly.
